A Visit from Gita Ralleigh

Friday 22nd November 2024 was a very special day for the Dairy Meadow family. We welcomed the published author, Gita Ralleigh, to our school to talk about her experiences in becoming an author.

Gita has written two children's books so far. Her heroine, Minou Moonshine and hero, Sam Singh are both Sikh and reflective of our amazing community. We were doubly fortunate that Gita brought Shabnam from the Sher Jung charity with her. Sher Jung is a local organisation that looks to inspire the next generation of writers by supporting schools with their reading curriculum. We are really excited to be working in partnership with them.

Gita had these kind words to say about visiting Dairy Meadow:

It was an absolute pleasure to visit Dairy Meadow school.

The children were delightful, their behaviour was exceptional and the imagination and skill they showed during the writing workshops was so impressive.

Most of all, the thoughtful encouragement they showed when listening to their peers' work exemplified the kind and caring community you have all created.
