Cyber Choices - Year 5 and 6 workshop

On Friday 6th September 2024, Years 5 and 6 welcomed Cyber Choices from the Met Police cybercrime department to present a workshop about illegal online activity.

As part of our online safety and safeguarding education, Cyber Choices explained the difference between legal and illegal cyber activity, encouraged our future computer scientists about correct use of technology and even introduced them to the 1990 Computer Misuse Act.

Our local officer also discussed the different levels of security we should have and this includes always locking our computer screen before leaving, having a strong password which we should never share.  Ajuni stated that “We should always combine three different words, add some numbers and a special character!” Thanks Ajuni!

Year 5 and 6 also discussed ethical hacking and having this as a potential job – major companies like the NHS have roles for ethical hackers who hack into their system to see where the company’s security needs to be tightened up – this potential job has a starting salary of £65-70k!
