Hot Chocolate Friday - Computing!
After a week off, our pupil voice sessions - Hot Chocolate Friday saw us get together to discuss the merits of our Computing curriculum.
It's clear that coding is very popular at Dairy Meadow with Omar enjoying it as he gets, "to program what sprites do". Sulaiman was able to link his in-class learning with his passion as there is a link as "I use commands to move around in both Purple Mash and Minecraft."
Elsewhere, Saiyug has enjoyed linking his Skills Builder skill of Problem Solving with editing and Year 2's Azia and Alyana have enjoyed using spreadsheets to make shops. Children were proud to show off their Computing class books and Years 4-6 assured me that I could check out with they have been doing online in their Purple Mash folders!
I was impressed that children viewed themselves as web developers and software engineers, our next steps will be to open our children's eyes further by focussing on other careers that use computers (animators, sound engineers etc).
Thank you to: Azia, Alyana, Sulaiman, Omar, Sashvin, Saiyug, Krish, Chhaya and Mrs Sahota for coming.
