Hot Chocolate Friday - PE!
Our pupil voice sessions put on our tracksuit bottoms and grabbed our sweatbands this week as Mr Feldman and his wonderful friends had a lively discussion about our PE curriculum.
It was clear from the outset that all our young athletes enjoyed the blend of PE lessons taught by the class teacher and Sport taught by Coach Perry. All our children were able to explain what they liked about PE, "We get to move around, it's like physical learning," - Elisha and appreciated it's importance, "PE is good for your health, you won't get fat or be lazy and have problems walking in later life" - Ibraheem. It was really heartening to see that 70% of the children around the table had taken part in a sports competition/tournament, with Parmvir commenting that, "Tournaments let us show off our school and make us better".
Our children spoke knowledgably about the skills they have learned and how they build year on year. Raashid took great pride in telling me how his throwing and catching has developed in the last couple of years. Aizah also commented on how she has been working on the skills needed to win a game of benchball, watch out for her in the future!
We clearly aren't getting everything correct at the moment, only one of our year groups could remember performing any dance (although Raahsid's African dance moves were AMAZING), something we will definitely put right soon. Our sportsmen and sportswomen clearly want some more competitive sport with intra mural sport and before school clubs high on the agenda.
Thank you to: Sufiyan, Ayana, Thipishana, Raashid, Aizah, Ibraheem, Luke, Parmvir and Elisha for joining me.
