PC McGuigan and PC Pidding talk about drugs to Y6.
At Dairy Meadow we take the safeguarding of our children incredibly seriously. As a result, we think it's vital for our junior citizens to understand the dangers and the pitfalls of growing up.
PC McGuigan and PC Pidding paid a visit to Dairy Meadow to give a Drug Talk to the children in Year 6. They discussed the different types of legal and illegal drugs and even though some drugs are legal, they can still be dangerous if taken without supervision and care.
The children had a chance to look at prototypes of different drugs so that they are aware of what it may look like and how some drugs maybe disguised as sweets, brownies and other sorts of edibles. Armaan noted that the illegal drugs which are disguised as sweets often have a THC label on – a very good tip to help us all stay safe!
Year 6 children received a detailed talk on age limit of drinking and purchasing alcohol and why this is important, how drugs, smoking and vaping is not only hazardous to our body but also takes a financial and emotional toll.
It was a great talk but it was also sad to see PC McGuigan deliver her last talk to us! We wish her a happy retirement!
