Smashing Stereotypes Careers Day

Sorry for the late news entry (Mr Feldman forgot to press 'save and publish') but on the 19th October 2022, Dairy Meadow had it's very first 'Smashing Stereotypes' careers afternoon.

We have many careers events here at Dairy Meadow as we want our children to 'dream BIG' and realise that no job should be unavailable to them, especially on the grounds of their gender, class, creed or location. With this in mind we decided to introduce our young people to volunteers whom do not hold a stereotypical role within an organisation. Our guests for the day were:

Caro - A garden designer with her own landscaping company.

Ruby - A business technology solutions lead for many high street brands.

Susan - a site reliability manager for Google

Aqsa - A community engagement and advocacy officer for the The Racial Equity Index

As a beacon school for careers education, our partner Primary Futures also sent down some of their trustees and CEO's. Our children were treated to an assembly explaining all about stereotypes before having a chance to ask some questions 1:1 with our visitors. A massive 'THANK YOU' must go to Mrs Uppal for hosting, Lisa Carey from Primary Futures for organising and David Woodburn, Phillip Lawford and Nick Chambers from the AKO Foundation/Education and Employers for being our special guests.
