Southall Local History Walk - Year 5
Sometimes when you live in a place, you take it for granted and forget about all the wonderful events that have happened there.
In a bid to connect our children with the phenomenal history that Southall has to offer, our Year 5's went on a local walk with Janpal from the Southall Community Alliance. Along the way he pointed out a range of buildings with social and historical significance that our children have walked past many times, yet might not be aware of!
Here are some of the quotes from our Year 5's:
“The trip was so amazing and we had a question sheet on the history of Southall. We answered the question correctly and received medals.”
“I loved the manor house was made in 1587 but it is in good shape. We learnt they are wanting to turn it into a museum- I think it’s a good idea because there is so much history to share.”
“During the trip we found out lots of surprising facts about past buildings. Hambrough primary has a bunker from WW2 under it!”
"I loved how the trip taught us about this history of Southall because it is significant to learn about the history of where we live.”
A massive thank you to all the Year 5 team, Mrs Ali and of course the Southall Community Alliance for making this happen.
