Street Elite Festival

Everyone has hidden talents don't they? How do you know you are not a master of something if you don't try it out first? Our fearless learners in Maple Class answered these questions by showing off some secret sporting prowess at the Street Elite Festival at The Green Quarter on Thursday 29th June 2023.

Now I know what you're thinking, how can the new Berkeley Homes development put on a sports festival? Well, they have a huge sports pitch and they work with Street Elite (a sports charity that guides vulnerable young adults into coaching) to put on a wonderful day for Southall schools.

Our children were able to try their hands at loads of sports that traditionally aren't found in the PE curriculum. We strapped on our gloves and learned how to throw a one/two combination, used our hips to dodge in an NFL flag session, got warmed up for Wimbledon with a short tennis session and got our groove on with some street dancing!

There were so many highlights of the day that you'll have to look at the photos below! My two favourite moments were when Anmolpreet showed the Ealing mayor, Cllr Taylor, how to save a penalty and the community spirit displayed by Southall FC.

A big Thank You to Mrs Bhambra for keeping us safe and Mr Sanghera at Berkeley Homes for the invite.
