Working with our local artist.
On Tuesday 14th November 2022 some of our KS2 children had the honour of working with local Southall artist, Daryl Stenvoli-Wells at Southall Library.
The purpose of the sessions were to belatedly celebrate South Asian Heritage Month, which obviously resonates with our wider school community.
In the workshops, our young artists were able to take a closer look at the tribal art created by the Gond, a nomadic group of 2 million people who mainly live in the states of Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Telangana, Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, and Odisha in India. Inspired by a love of nature Gond tribal artists use simple shapes and patterns alongside warm and vibrant colours.
As you can see from the slideshow below children had to think really carefully about planning their Gond masterpiece, using collage technique to create a backlit image. Further information about Daryl can be found be clicking here. A massive THANK YOU to Miss Spilstead for organising.
