Year 4 Social Enterprise Morning

On the morning of Tuesday 20th May 2025, I had the pleasure of accompanying Ms Formby and 20 Year 4's to visit Alec Reed Academy for a Social Enterprise Morning.

Year 4 have been busy creating companies, assigning roles and identifying social issues in Southall that they can try and help solve. Under the guidance of Heather, Lewis, Maja and others at Social Enterprise, they put their brains together to try and tackle the homelessness epidemic that is currently affecting West London.

Our two intrepid companies, The Lions and Cedar, thought of unique ways to raise funds by the selling of snacks and old uniform. The profits would then be invested into hygiene kits in order to best support the rough sleepers. Our morning at Alec Reed saw our young entrepreneurs pitch their ideas to a team of 'dragons' (Griff, Alisha and Heather weren't really dragons!) and I am proud to announce that both of our companies were awarded commendations in the fields of 'community' and 'sustainability'.

A massive Thank You to Ms Formby and Mrs Uppal for organising.
