Year 5 Engineering with HS2

Redwood and Willow Class are currently in the middle of an exciting project with HS2, the provider of a high speed rail network for the whole country. The purpose of the project is for our children to understand the different processes and employment opportunities that can occur within the railway industry.

 

This week the children looked closer at engineering. Considering that many tunnels, carriages and goods will be thundering through Southall on their way to all parts of the country, it was important for the children to understand how the infrastructure can handle such weight. Please have a look at some of our bridge examples below. Can you work out how our structures have been reinforced?
