Year 6 Police Safety Talk
"Dairy Meadow, do you read me? Over?" - Friday 24th November 2023 saw all our law abiding citizens in Year 6 meet a real life police officer to discuss how to be responsible citizens and learn a little bit more about what a job in law enforcement is like.
Year 6 were joined by PC McGuigan from the Met Police to learn all about keeping themselves safe. Year 6 pupils learned the safest place to sit on the bus is the first level and mobile phones should always be out of sight when they are travelling to and from secondary school to prevent theft.
Our children asked some excellent questions such as "what do you wear to keep yourself safe during a riot?" Some pupils had the chance to try on real police gear and hold equipment. Careful with that baton Hassan! Then, Ali arrested Eshal for the theft of Mrs Benson's chocolates by demonstrating how to use handcuffs safely. Even Miss Spilsted learnt something new today! Did you know every police officer's key opens any set of handcuffs? Year 6 are already looking forward to their next police visit from PC McGuigan.
